US Charges D’Affairs Meets with Liberian Civil Aviation Authority
Monrovia, Liberia – April 15, 2024- The United States Chargé d'Affaires, Catherine Rodriquez along with Sara L. Horner Political-Economic Counselor Officer, met with the Liberian Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) leadership on April 4, 2024 to discuss U.S. support for the LCAA's critical role in ensuring safe and secure air travel in Liberia.
The meeting focused on identifying the LCAA's specific needs in three key areas: training, equipment, and infrastructure.
The Director General of the LCAA, Mr. Julius D. Dennis, Jr. outlined priority areas of the LCAA with specific focus on training, equipment and the constructing a new and modern headquarters and ways the U.S can assist the LCAA.
For her part, the Chargé d'Affaires expressed the United States' strong commitment to supporting Liberia's aviation sector and its dedication to working together with the LCAA to address these needs. The United States will explore potential areas of collaboration, which may include:
- Providing training programs for LCAA personnel in areas such as air traffic control, safety inspections, and aviation regulations.
- Donating or facilitating the acquisition of essential equipment to improve Liberia's aviation infrastructure.
- Offering technical assistance in the planning and construction of a new LCAA headquarters, if that aligns with Liberia's long-term goals.
The United States recognizes the vital role the LCAA plays in Liberia's economic development and regional connectivity. This collaboration reflects the U.S. commitment to being a strong partner in Liberia's efforts to modernize its aviation sector.
