
LCAA and Egyptian Officials Discuss Potential EgyptAir Flights and Aviation Cooperation
MONTREAL, CANADA — The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) has held productive discussions with Egypt's Minister of Aviation, Dr. Sameh El-Hefny and Captain Amr Al-Sharqawi, Director General of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority regarding a potential new air route and broader industry support. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 42nd International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) General Assembly in Montreal.
During the talks, officials from both nations explored the possibility of EgyptAir establishing direct flights to Liberia. Such a service would significantly enhance air connectivity between the two African nations, promoting trade, tourism, and diplomatic ties.
In addition to flight operations, Egypt demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting Liberia’s aviation industry through training and development. Egypt's aviation sector, known for its extensive experience and infrastructure, expressed a keen interest in providing expertise and resources to help build Liberia's capacity in key areas such as air traffic control, aviation safety, and maintenance.
Egypt's officials confirmed their strong interest in moving forward with the discussed initiatives, which align with both countries' goals of fostering regional cooperation and sustainable aviation growth. This collaboration is a promising step toward strengthening Liberia's position within the global aviation network.
