Air Sénégal Explores New Route to Liberia, Aiming for Early 2027 Launch to Boost West African Connectivity
Senegal’s national flag carrier, Air Sénégal, is exploring the expansion of its regional network to Liberia, with proposed flight operations targeting a launch in the first or second quarter of 2027.
The announcement follows bilateral discussions between Tidiane Ndiaye, Chief Executive Officer of Air Sénégal, and Hon. Julius D. Dennis, Jr., Director General of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA).
The proposed multi-leg service will connect Dakar’s Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) to Roberts International Airport (ROB) in Monrovia, with planned intermediate stops in Conakry, Guinea, and Freetown, Sierra Leone. Once operational, the route will offer an essential travel link across Upper South Guinea and West Africa, driving trade, tourism, and regional economic integration.
"Connecting our nations through reliable air transport is vital for regional cohesion and growth," said Hon. Julius D. Dennis, Jr., Director General of the LCAA. "We welcome Air Sénégal’s initiative and look forward to working closely with their executive team to satisfy regulatory requirements and facilitate a seamless start to operations."
The expansion aligns with broader efforts across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to enhance intra-regional air mobility, reduce transit times, and support the growth of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM). Technical teams from both Air Sénégal and the LCAA will continue operational assessments and bilateral safety evaluations over the coming months to finalize the route schedule and launch timeline.
Air Sénégal is the national flag carrier of the Republic of Senegal. Operating from its primary hub at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar, the airline serves a growing network of domestic, regional, and international destinations, offering passenger and cargo services designed to link Senegal with key markets across West Africa and beyond.
The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) is the autonomous government agency responsible for regulating aviation safety, security, and economic oversight in the Republic of Liberia. The LCAA works to ensure safe, secure, and sustainable civil aviation operations aligned with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
